Filtration vs Purification

How do water filters work?

Water Filtration is the process of removing contaminants found in water by using a filter to block and reduce chemicals through an absorption process. The main form of filtration is through activated carbon filters; removing unpleasant taste, odour, bacteria and chemicals such as chlorine, heavy metals to deliver safe drinking water.

There are many factors which come into play when achieving optimum levels of filtration. These include the micron size of the filter (small micron size results in better quality water), levels of filtration stages and quality of the filter itself.

Contaminants carbon filters remove?

  •  Sediment
  •  Dirt
  •  Taste & Odour
  •  Chlorine
  •  Heavy Metals
  •  Bacteria
  •  Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs)
  •  Giardia & Cryptosporidium

Reverse Osmosis Purification system

How do they work and compare with filters?

Reverse osmosis (RO) is the ultimate technology  in water filtration. This superior purifying process provides the highest quality water, conveniently at the turn of a tap. General tap water contains volatile organic compounds (VOCs) such as pesticides and herbicides, heavy metals. However, RO system ensure other chemicals such as fluoride, calcium, salt and lead are also removed from drinking water.

Using a reverse osmosis system will reduce all of these contaminants significantly, protecting your body from absorbing them and potentially vitalising your body.

Reverse Osmosis systems feature multiple stages of filtration. The first set of filters remove sediment and chlorine followed by a fine RO membrane to remove almost all contaminants, including lead, total dissolved solids (TDS) such as fluoride, salts, calcium and other nasties. Finally, water then flows through another carbon cartridge to polish the water before consumption, reducing 97% of all contaminants in your tap water. The RO process strips away minerals such as calcium and magnesium from the water, which is why it’s important to replace the nutrients with a healthy diet. Our RO system include a Alkaline filter to adjust pH level – make water alkaline and a Remineralising filter.

Contaminants RO systems remove?

  •  Fluoride
  •  Lead
  •  Calcium
  •  Salts
  •  Arsenic
  •  Cooper
  •  Chlorine

Finally, there are some major differences between standard water filtration and Reverse Osmosis Purification. While water filters remove contaminants such as chlorine, smell, taste and odour from water. RO system can do a lot more by removing fluoride, bacteria, viruses and heavy metals to achieve optimum quality of drinking water.
